Remembrance Service
Host: Didsbury Army Cadets
Description: Take time to remember - the 3025 Didsbury RCACC (Didsbury Army Cadets) are inviting the community to its annual Remembrance Day ceremony on Saturday, November 11th at the Zion Church. Doors open at 10 am and everyone is asked to be seated by 10:15. The Colour Party will enter at 10:30 a.m. and the service follows the singing of "O Canada". "This is all about honouring the sacrifices for freedom of the past," says Captain Tim Kaczmarski, Commanding Officer 3025 RCACC, "so that we may live for a better tomorrow." A day to remember and honour not only the conflicts that have shaped history and those who fought in them, Remembrance Day is also a chance to talk to area veterans and visiting servicemen and women as well. The service includes hymns and war songs performed by the Didsbury Valley Voices, scripture readings, the reading of the Honour Roll, and the laying of wreaths by many organizations in the community. Poppies will be available at the church. The Zion Church is located at the corner of Highway 582 and 20th Avenue, just east of the Didsbury hospital and the Rosebud Valley Campground. Following the Remembrance Day Service in Didsbury, everyone is invited to the Didsbury Elks Hall for a lunch of soup and sandwiches (until 1:30 pm). The Elks Hall is located downtown at 1914 - 20 Street.
