The Mountain View Arts Society is a group of volunteers in Didsbury and the surrounding region who support the arts, whether by hosting events or facilitating in the promotion of artists, musicans, writers, and dancers in Mountain View County.

Host: Didsbury Historical Society
Description: An afternoon of coffee, conversation, and company on the 4th Wednesday of each month. Today's guest: Michel Larocque. He explains his journey of restoring his 1914 Liesemer home. The Liesemers were one of the first families to settle in the Disbury area.

JazzFest Day 1
Host: Didsbury High School Band
Description: 10 different groups of band students from Central Alberta will be taking part in the 14th Annual Jazz Fest, November 22 and 23 in Didsbury and Olds. Jazz Fest takes place at the Zion Evangelical Missionary Church in Didsbury and the TransCanada Theatre in Olds. Jazz Fest is sponsored by Mountain View Credit Union, Rotary Club of Olds and Chinooks' Edge School Division. Jazz Fest has two components: the educational workshops in Didsbury, and the evening concerts at the TransCanada Theatre. During the workshops, students work with coaches and musicians to hone their craft. The Ensemble Clinician is Johnny Summers of Calgary Jazz Orchestra fame. There are also Instrument Workshops both Wednesday and Thursday. Schools participating include DHS Grade 9s, Carstairs, Innisfail, Westglen Middle School (2), DHS Evens and Odds, Olds High School, Cochrane and Red Deer. The public is welcome to attend the workshops at the church. Everyone is invited to just come in, sit, and enjoy the music. On Thursday evening, everyone will be entertained by the Calgary Jazz Orchestra, led by Johnny Summers. The Orchestra was established in 2004, and is a high energy, passionate and fun group of musicians whose goal is to engage and reach the audience with every song. The atmosphere is upbeat and fun, and is consistently enjoyed by all ages and all musical tastes. Tickets for Thursday's performance are available at Olds High School and Didsbury High School. Students $10 advance ... $15 at the door Adults $20 advance ... $25 at the door The evening performance provides students an opportunity to hear live jazz music, and learn about style. And for the rest of us ... we just like to sit back and listen to great music!
