Live Theatre
Host: Mountain View Theatre Project
Description: If you love to laugh, you'll definitely want to be at the Mountain View Theatre Project's performance in December at the Elks Hall. This new drama production group is just starting up, but has the experience of local actor, Tony Sylvestre, as the foundation. Tony was well-known in musical performances including "Guys and Dolls", "My Fair Lady", and "76 Trombones". He was also co-producer with Derek Lewis, in Theatre Didsbury productions a few years ago. And now he's back! "I just feel this area should have an active drama group," says Sylvestre, "so I am lending my experience to start up this project, hoping the young people will jump at the chance to continue." The first production will be of Sylvestre's own murder mystery, "Killed to Death", a hilarious farce with strong performances by Gary Edwards, Rick Phillips, Marlene Skeet, Cory Berry, Barry Beaudry, Chris Dussault, Nicole Dussault, and Sylvestre. There's a will to be read, to a somewhat dysfunctional family led by Mr. and Mrs. Codger. They expect to get the bulk of the estate, but have their own issues to deal with. Bickering ensues, and a nephew expects to get his "fair share" - as does the maid! How it all ends up is for you to find out. $40 tickets include a fabulous roast beef dinner catered by Theresa McNeil, and are available at Gil's Truck and Auto Repair (2002 20 St, Didsbury). Rural Alberta Ride for Dad will be handling the bar, with $2.00 from every ticket going straight to them (local motorcycle enthusiasts passionate about saving men's lives by raising money for research and awareness toward the fight against prostate cancer). Designed for an adult audience, performances are Saturday, December 2nd and December 16th. Doors open at 6 pm, with showtime at 8 pm. Call your friends and book a table. A great night out supporting local, live theatre once again in Didsbury!
Location: Elks Hall, 1914 20 St - Doors open at 6 pm, with showtime at 8 pm.
