Headstone Cleaning
Host: Didsbury Cemetery Committee
Description: If these tombstones could talk, oh, the stories they could tell! The Didsbury Cemetery Committee does its part to make sure the stories of our early settlers buried in the Didsbury Cemetery are respected and maintained on an annual basis. That means that each spring, members gather to clean the headstones. They are joined by students from Didsbury High School, who are raising funds through the annual May Monarch campaign. This is a wonderful opportunity for residents to join in on the preservation of our history. Many families of those buried in our cemetery have moved on, and there may no longer be someone who can maintain their family headstones. This is where the Cemetery Committee comes in, and they welcome anyone in the community to help protect the final resting place of our community's settlers. Just bring a rag and a pail. Limestone, marble, granite, concrete and other materials are quite sensitive and are treated with great care. Cleaning takes place from 1 - 4 pm. For more information, please call Diana at 403-335-3445..
Location: Didsbury Cemetery, 1101 18 Street - 1 pm
