Bells of Peace

Description: As a remembrance of those who served in wars, volunteers with the Didsbury and District Historical Society will, once again, lead an initiative to have bells toll 11 times on November 11th, to honour Armistice Day, the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month. The Didsbury Museum hosts a Bells of Peace ceremony on November 11th, Remembrance Day, every year. The museum will be open on November 11th, from 11 am to 4 pm if you would like to come in and visit our Military Room and the rest of the exhibits. A Sunset Ceremony is planned at the Didsbury Museum on Saturday, November 11, 2023, and you are invited to experience this unique event. Please arrive on the lawn at the Museum, 2110 - 21 Ave, between 4:35 pm to 4:45 pm. Bring candles or flashlights to help light up the night. The ceremony will begin at 4:45 pm. Following "O' Canada", "In Flanders Fields", and the recitation of the Didsbury Honour Roll, the Last Post will be played, followed by Two Minutes of Silence. The event closes with the playing of "The Rouse" and an Act of Remembrance will be read. At the going down of the sun, the bells will toll. Take a moment to pause and remember all those who served and sacrificed. The Museum will be open for guests to get warm if needed. Donations will be accepted at the gate for the veterans. May the Bells of Peace always ring to honour those who volunteered, sacrificed, served, fought and died for our freedom. We will never forget. We will remember them.
